“El día que nací yo” is a song composed by the trio of authors Quintero, Guillén and Mostazo. It was performed by Imperio Argentina, the most famous actress and singer during the period of the Second Spanish Republic, in the movie Morena clara (The Fair-Skinned Gypsy, 1936). This film, directed by her husband Florián Rey, was the box-office hit of the Republic and remained an audience favourite during the Spanish Civil War and the early years of the dictatorship.

“Campanera” is a song included in the movie El pequeño ruiseñor (directed by Antonio del Amo in 1956). It was the first movie starring Joselito. This film was an extraordinary success in Spain, France, some Arab countries and Latin America. It was also the first of a long series of films featuring singing children. The song is a “pasodoble”, a popular dance form which was established as a stereotype of Spanish popular music of the postwar period. It was composed by Francisco Naranjo, Camilio Murillo and Genaro Monreal.

“Tombola” is a song composed by Augusto Algueró (1934-2001) and performed by Marisol (stage name of Josefa Flores González, born in 1948). This video clip is from the movie directed by Luis Lucia in 1962, titled after the song (directed by Luis Lucia in 1962). Marisol’s character made his debut like a rebellious and modern girl in Un rayo de luz (A Ray of Light) in 1960. She was the most famous prodigy girls Spanish cinema of the sixties.
