06. Deserters with a Chance of Success: Polish Punks Before and After 1989

1. Kryzys, “Wojny Gwiezdne”

From: Kryzys. Blitzkrieg Records – 200.173, 1981, 33 rpm.

 

The core lineup of Kryzys included Robert (“Afa”/”Goldrocker”) Brylewski (guitar), Maciej “Magura” Góralski (drums, lyrics), Mirek Szatkowski (vocal lead, formerly of Deadlock), Tomek “Rastaman” Szczeciński (bass guitar) and Tomasz “Men” Świtalski (saxophone), although other people have also contributed their time to the band between 1978 and 1981, when they disbanded.


 

2. Dezerter, “Nie Ma Nas”

From: Various Artists, Jak Punk to Punk. Tonpress KAW SX-T 61, 1986, 33 rpm.

 

Lyrics were written by Agnieszka Osiecka and music composed by Seweryn Krajewski.

 

The original lineup of Dezerter included Dariusz “Skandal” Hajn Bogdanowicz (lead vocals), Robert ‟Robal” Matera (guitar), Krzysztof Grabowski (lyrcis and drums), and Darek “Stepa” Stepnowski (bass guitar). Robert Matera stepped forward as the lead vocal in 1987, when Dariusz Hajn left the band. Curently the band performs as a trio with Jacek Chrzanowski on bass guitar. 3. TZN Xenna, “ Bankier, Oficer, Polityk Czy Ksiądz”

The original lineup of TZN Xenna was the following:
Krzysztof “Zygzak” Chojnacki, lead vocal
Marek Kucharski, guitar
Jacek ‟Sidney” Zientała, bass guitar
Andrzej “Falkonetti” Kuszpyt, bass guitar
“Gogo Szulc,” drums

The reunited TZN Xenna in 2019 are:
Krzysztof “Zygzak” Chojnacki, lead vocal
“Kesur,” guitar
‟Panek,” bass guitar
Dariusz ‟Dynia” Dynowski, drums.

 


 

4. Bulbulators, “Banana Republic of Poland”

From: Inter Punk. P&C 2015 Lou & Rocked Boys.

 

The lineup of the band included, notably:
